Android P: Google Aiming To Entice IPhone Owners With Bold New Look

Google is hoping that the next update to its Android operating system can entice iPhone owners to switch devices, with plans for a major overhaul in the offing.

A new report says that Android P will feature a new, slick design, aimed at taking on the sharper looks of Apple’s iOS platform.

Insiders say it will also offer support for handsets with notches at the top of their screens, similar to that on the iPhone X.

Currently, only one Android phone has such a design, the Essential Phone.

However, Google’s forthcoming Pixel handsets, plus other rival devices, are said to be leaning towards offering the same design.

That's despite the notch seriously dividing opinion on Apple's tenth anniversary iPhone.

Elsewhere, Android P is believed to come with tweaks to offer longer battery life and further integration of Google Assistant.

What’s more, Google is said to want to offer support for folding phones, which will likely please Samsung.

Folding phones: everything you need to know.

The latter has long been working on a pair of devices that utilise the futuristic display tech.

Android P is not likely to be released until late summer, with the majority of handsets not set to get the software until 2019 at the earliest.
